We designed Lucky Dog as a RESORT, not a kennel.

Dogs are intelligent, loving, sensitive creatures and being away from their families can be stressful.

We’ve created a haven ensuring both dogs AND their parents always feel confident they will be exceptionally well cared for, with no guilt, worries or stress.

We do this by  making his transition from your home to ours as seamless and happy as possible…

providing an interesting, safe, fun and loving environment that encourages dogs to think, learn, engage and be well, both mentally and physically.

Your dog will be happy, safe and loved while on vacation with us!

What Our Dog Parents Say

Rascal is an 8 year old collie who has attended various day cares wherever we have lived and has always quickly welcomed the social interaction with other dogs and people. The luxurious surroundings are merely a backdrop for the skilled care that the staff provide. Laurie's staff quickly picked up on Rascal's difficulty adjusting to day care this time alerting me to her anxiety. As a writer and someone who relies on the ability to keenly perceive other beings reactions I had missed how a sudden decline in my health had impacted on Rascal. Laurie and her staff helped me realize that whatever we are going through can greatly impact our canine companions well being.  I am greatly appreciative of Laurie and her staffs' attention to detail and the ability to meet Rascals psycho social needs and helping Rascal be more relaxed and social again by providing a stable routine and environment.

Lucky Dog was great for our recent weekend trip to Newport! Our dog Finn was tired for 2 whole days after his stay - the sign of a good time. The house is very cool and all dog friendly. We got awesome pictures of him sleeping on beds and playing on couches with his new furry friends. If you are in the area and don't want to have a worry about your dog, Lucky Dog is the place to go.

Above and beyond, and then beyond again.

We have boarded our two Huskies (Ally and Zelda) at Lucky Dog several times.  They love it there and always come back relaxed and happy.  The team at Lucky Dog clearly loves them, knows them, and has taken some amazing pictures of them and shared them with us.

This past visit, however, went from just great to life-saving.  Shortly after the dogs got there, one of the staff noticed that Zelda wasn't acting herself: she was lethargic, having difficulty breathing, and running a fever.  Elaine contacted us immediately and went with her to the vet.  She stayed with her there for the initial diagnosis. When the local vet referred Zelda to a hospital, Laurie took Zelda there herself, stayed with her through the intake process, and spoke with us by video-chat so that we could see how Zelda was doing.

Even after Zelda had been admitted and we were back home, Laurie stayed in touch, genuinely concerned about how Zelda was doing.  (After two days of hospitalization in the ICU for pneumonia, Zelda is safely back home and reunited with her sister.)

Laurie, Elaine, and the rest of the team at Lucky Dog clearly care for Zelda as a lot more than just a "client."  They know our dogs well enough to know and notice when something isn't right.  And they went the extra mile to ensure Zelda got life-saving care and we stayed fully informed.  We are incredibly grateful.
