Visiting Newport

There are lots of beautiful beaches and parks you can visit with your Dog. If you find that you need a day-cation for your furry family member, Lucky Dog Resort happily accepts your Pup while you relax and explore Newport and its surroundings. Your Pup must be able to play nicely with our other Guests and meet our medical requirements in order to participate.

Dog Friendly Beaches

Easton’s Beach (First Beach)

  • Dogs are only allowed on the beach before and after the season from Labor Day weekend through Memorial Day weekend.
  • Pets must be on leash and cleaned-up after.
  • There are no parking fees during that time.

Sachuest Beach (Second Beach) & Third Beach

  • Dogs are allowed on the beach from Memorial Day to Labor Day from 5AM to 7:45AM only.
  • During off season, you can take them any time.
  • Pets must be on leash at all times and cleaned-up after.
  • No parking fee during those times.

Dog Friendly Parks

Beavertail State Park

Hike some of the most beautiful New England coastline located on Jamestown, just over the Pell Bridge from Newport. Dogs must have a valid license tag and must be leashed and cleaned up after at all times. They are not allowed at bathing beaches.

Ballard Park

Located at the corner of Rogers High School and Wickham Road, Ballard Park is a Nature Preserve and is great for hiking, offering year-round events. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned-up after.

Brenton State Park

One of the most beautiful locations in Newport where the ocean meets Narraganset Bay, Brenton Park offers picnicking, hiking and fishing.  The kite flying is consistently some of the best in New England.

The Preservation Society Mansions & Museums

While the Mansions and Museums do not permit Dogs inside, you can take your Dog for a walk on Cliff Walk overlooking the ocean and Easton’s Beach to one side and a water view of many private estates and Mansions on the other. If you want to see the mansions from their addresses on Bellevue Avenue, a lovely walk can take you past many of them.
